Earth Wind & Fire To Be Inducted
It has been confirmed that Earth Wind & Fire’s Maurice White, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Larry Dunn, and Al McKay will be inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on June 17, 2010 in NYC. Other inductees include Leonard Cohen, Jackie DeShannon, David Foster and Johnny Mandel.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame “celebrates songwriters, educates the public with regard to their achievements, and produces a spectrum of professional programs devoted to the development of new songwriting talent through workshops, showcases and scholarships.”
Earth Wind & Fire celebrates over 40 years in the music business earning more than 50 Gold and Platinum albums, 90 million albums worldwide, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Signature Governor’s Award, and being the first African American performers to sell out Madison Square Garden and the receive the MSG Gold Ticket Award, just to name a few.
Currently the group has scheduled performances in Europe and the US through the end of summer, so be sure to check your local listing for Earth Wind and Fire tickets.
